I am a freelance Lighting Programmer and Project Manager working on a large range of productions each year.
I have been involved in the entertainment industry since 1992 when I started crewing in the North East. In 1999 I joined Derwentside Council as Technical Manager for their two theatres, overseeing and managing a complete rewire and re-design of the theatre systems at the venues. Being the lead for all technical services allowed me the opportunity to develop and test different lighting design ideas in a busy theatre.
I joined a Hi-lights Theatre Services in 2002 and was swiftly initiated into the conference and event world. At Hi-lights I was responsible for managing and designing the technical elements for events such as Pet Shop Boys at Swan Hunters, World Wrestling All-stars Tour, Tall Ships Race Finale, Ross on Wye Festival and Stockton Riverside Festival as well as a range of corporate and event work.
I made the decision in 2007 to pursue a freelance career in lighting programming and project management. I have enjoyed a range of challenging and varied projects over the past couple of years. Recently I have become involved in Architectural Lighting Programming and design with artist Simon Watkinson. My recent work involves CIPR regional award shows, Stockton Fringe Festival and I took a step back into the world of theatre as deputy chief lx for Carnival Messiah.
2009 has led to a range of new challenges and projects from project management of Hollis Awards to programming for Stage Electrics at the World Mobile Conference.
